The finished result is a two colour hand pulled screen print on Fabriano 5 paper. Framed by Trevor O'Rourke at Picturehouse Framing.
The Dun Laoghaire baths were a staple of my youth. A public access outdoor lido with saltwater pools and latterly two slides known as the Rainbow Rapids. They were closed down after a child lost a finger and have since fallen into terrible neglect, caught in between developer and local council purgatory.
The welcome step is the graphic part that interested me mostly.
The lettering is unusual - the counters in the B the unstable S, the imbalanced kerning. I seperated the text and border from the faux marble pebble dash and brought the colours back to their original state.
The colours contrast nicely and the lettering retains it's artisan quality.
